Sean joined Brent’s Place in 2010, after more than five years at the American Cancer Society. During his time at the American Cancer Society, Sean served as a Community Relationship Manager in Denver and as Distinguished Events Director for the 12 State Great West Division. Sean holds degrees in International Business and Communications from The University of Colorado Boulder, as well as a Masters in Public Administration with focus on nonprofit management. In his time at Brent’s Place, Sean has worked with the Board of Directors and staff to reshape the organization and position it for future success. To this end, Sean and his talented team have taken steps to continue the growth of support programs and fundraising in an effort to serve all of those in need of our services.
Family Services Director
Allen became a member of the Brent’s Place team in January of 2010. Allen has a varied background in nonprofit management and volunteer direction. He holds a B.S. in Music Management from the University of Evansville and a M.A. in Philanthropic Studies from Indiana University. His experience working in volunteer management and development at an HIV/AIDS clinic gave Allen the passion to help patients and their families in times of crisis as well as helping others fulfill their desire to give back through volunteer service. During his time at Brent’s Place, Allen’s dedication to our families and willingness to go above and beyond has been remarkable. Thanks to Allen’s efforts, our programs have grown to serve more families and provide more support than at any other time in our history. Whether he is organizing an outing, helping with homework, or coordinating a new family’s arrival, Allen does whatever it takes to make our families comfortable during their stay at Brent’s Place.
Rebekah recently moved to Denver from her hometown of Kansas City. Prior to joining Brent’s Place as our Development Director, Rebekah worked at the Mid-America Chapter of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society for nearly ten years in a variety of roles including event planning, grant-writing and donor cultivation. Most recently she served as a Development Manager working with with donors to accomplish their charitable giving goals. Rebekah holds a B.A. in Public Relations from Northwest Missouri State University. She is excited to continue her work supporting families touched by cancer and looks forward to working with staff, donors and volunteers to help Brent's Place continue its growth.
Emily holds a degree in psychology from Gordon College in Wenham, MA. Emily began volunteering at Brent's Place in 2009 when her interest in medicine and family support was sparked after caring for a pediatric cancer patient. She joined the Brent’s Place team as an intern in the summer of 2010 and jumped more deeply into our daily efforts to support resident families. Soon after her internship ended, we convinced Emily to take on a part-time position as our Grants Coordinator. In this role, Emily has worked with our development team to dramatically improve our grant program, resulting in a steady increase in grant funding for our programs and services.
Rachel Wool Bernstein
Community Engagement Manager
Rachel was born and raised in Tucson, AZ, but has lived in Denver for the past 10 years after graduating from the University of Denver with a degree in Literature. She currently lives in the Denver Metro area with her husband and young son. Rachel spent several years working in the for-profit sector but returned to her nonprofit roots after a personal experience with cancer and bone marrow transplant. Rachel joined Brent’s Place in 2011 and quickly added new energy and creativity to our staff. Anyone who volunteers at Brent’s Place or supports our efforts through corporate or community projects experiences Rachel’s tireless work ethic and willingness to go above and beyond to give others a chance to help make Brent’s Place a special place of hope and healing. Rachel continues to make it her mission to share Brent’s Place with anyone and everyone who will listen.
Special Events Manager
After a successful internship at Brent’s Place in the fall of 2013, Brittany officially joined the Brent’s Place team in February of 2014. For the past four years, Brittany has devoted the majority of her time to two different passions, music and human services. After leaving one of Colorado’s most successful cover bands, Brittany studied Human Services at Metropolitan State University. Brittany truly enjoys working at Brent’s Place and is a tremendous addition to the team leading our Special Events throughout the year raising money and awareness to support Brent’s Place families.
C. Fabian Jimenez
House Operations Manager
Fabian joined Brent's Place in 2010 after 19 years as the Operations Manager at Karl's Dairy/Wholeome Milk Products. Fabian is responsible for every aspect of our facility operations and works closely with our program staff to ensure that we provide the Safe-Clean environment that our families need. Fabian's broad range of skills makes him the go-to person to keep Brent's Place running smoothly and in accordance with our Safe-Clean environment standards. As a parent of a childhood cancer survivor, Fabian understands what our families are facing each day and he is dedicated to making our families' journey as comfortable as possible. His personal and professional experiences make him uniquely suited for the work of supporting Brent's Place families with compassion and understanding.
Family Engagement Coordinator
Cassie instantly fell in love with Brent's Place the first time she had the chance to visit during a stop in Denver with Texas 4000. Two and a half years after graduating from The University of Texas at Austin with a Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Cassie jumped at the chance to move to Denver and start getting involved with Brent's Place. After interning with the Brent's Place development team for 6 months, Cassie was thrilled to have the chance to begin working part time on the Brent's Place programs team as a Family Engagement Assistant. She looks forward to getting to continue to help support the past and current Brent's Place families.
Anne and her family have recently returned to Colorado after being away for fourteen years. During that time, Anne had been working with elementary school students. After volunteering in support of the cancer community on behalf of friends and St. Jude Children's Research Hospital as well as experiencing cancer within her family, she is looking forward to continuing the opportunity to work with children and their families in a new capacity at Brent's Place. Her previous office experience, organizational skills and desire to help others will ultimately further our mission in providing comfort to the families of Brent's Place.
Devin was born in Ohio, raised in Indiana, and moved to Colorado in the summer of 2014. She earned a Bachelors in Psychology from Indiana University, and her Masters of Social Work from the University of Denver. Through her time serving with organizations such as the Special Olympics and Denver Public Schools, Devin has grown passionate about social justice and making the world a better place, one step at a time. After completing an internship at Brent's Place in 2016, Devin was excited to join the Brent's Place staff as our first full time Volunteer Coordinator and is looking forward to working closely with the amazing Brent's Place volunteers.
Mary is originally from Kenya and moved to the United States in 1996. Mary has worked for the American Cancer Society(ACS) for seven years and joined Brent’s Place as our Overnight Monitor in 2010. In her role as an Administrative Assistant at ACS she supervises volunteers and works closely with patients and families looking for services. She also worked in the home health care industry as a certified nurse’s assistant for three years. Mary is easy-going, compassionate, patient, loving, and thoughtful. She is easily accessible and ready to help our families at any time and has allowed Brent’s Place to provide support 24 hours a day.
